Paths and Angles are a multi-disciplinary creative partnership based in Sydney and San Diego. Toni Hearn is a graphic designer and collage artist working with musicians, cabaret artists and small business owners/operators. Kit Watson is a graphic designer and musician, working with other musicians to create both the music and packaging for commercial releases. Together, Paths and Angles are able to offer a wide range of design and art direction services for print and digital media, including logos and branding, stationery, brochures, posters and flyers, and product packaging with a particular interest in music CD and vinyl record jackets.
Our studio also provides professional audio services, including complete music production, voice-over, jingles and ringtones, as well as first-class audio restoration, mixing and mastering. We liaise seamlessly with printers and manufacturers to provide end-to-end product design management, and we enjoy working closely with our clients to shepherd their important projects from concept to completion.
The namesake of our creative studio is a superb song of the same title, performed and recorded by our favourite band, Ultravox. Lyrically and thematically, the song speaks of how "the paths and the angles of light" pass through the camera of the mind and into memory, "recorded and logged for a time." We depend on those paths and angles—both in the natural properties of light and reflection and in the technical properties of digital illustration— to project and perceive our visual creations. What better to illustrate all of that movement of light and shapes than a lens system?
Our logograph stylises the diagrammatic representation of a telecentric multiple-lens system, redirecting and focusing the light—and by association, the ideas — passing through it in a precisely calculated, predictable way. Consistent design, and determined purpose, create lasting memories in the mind's eye. That's Paths and Angles.
